Sunday Snapshot: Breakdancing

As Sarah mentioned in her previous post, the schools have been gearing up for Independence Day. While the festivities themselves have been rather foreign to us, there is one commonality between Guatemalan children and US children-- they like to breakdance.

These guys were seriously impressive.

You're never too young to start.

But don't worry, just like in the States, not everyone breakdances. Some just pose and look absolutely perfect instead:

Sunday Snapshot: Mini-Camp & Despedida!

This week we had Mini-Camp in Central! We taught the kids about science, danced,  and made crafts!

The summer interns, Dana, and Lorena, also said their goodbyes to the community. It is certainly bittersweet as they said goodbye, but the new PD's are all very excited to carry on their great work!

The kids loved the "despedida" piñata at the Cooperativa goodbye party.

Happy Mother's Day to all those near and far! As per usual, we were asked to choreograph and perform a dance for the celebration in Chaquijyá. Luckily we had 7 volunteers from Jackson Hole, WY that could easily find work as music video dancers. Check out these superstars redefine the shuffle!
